Barque Europa
Don Liska has been a lifelong explorer and adventurer. Now in his 70’s, he has given up high altitude mountaineering, for “tamer” pursuits. Aboard the square rigger, Barque Europa, Don recently sailed around Cape Horn across the Drake Passage to the Antarctic Peninsula, then on to South Georgia and Tristan da Cunha (the most remote inhabited island on earth) before reaching Cape Town after seven weeks at sea. Now mind you, this was no Bermuda short wearing, shuffle board playing, Pina Coladas on the lido deck sort of cruise. Don and his fellow mates manned the helm, climbed the rigging, furled and unfurled the sails, braced the yards, peeled potatoes, swabbed the decks, and tended to every other shipboard duty.
It makes us proud as can be that our gear served Don well during his voyage!
